Hidden at a kopitiam in Katong, you will find one of the best places to enjoy meat (charcoal grilled, no joke) in Singapore: Meet 4 Meat. They serve up high quality steaks at budget-friendly, hawker prices.
Behind Meet 4 Meat, there is Jimmy (former chef at Wooloomooloo Steakhouse in Swissôtel) and Gerald, two passionate chefs driven by the same goal: democratize access to gourmet food offering an affordable and laid-back experience.
They marinate and cook everything in their small stall. One of their strengths is that they instead of the conventional gas-stove, they use charcoal-grill, which adds a smoky aroma and flavor to the different cuts of meat.
We all know that having a good steak in Singapore is a luxury, until Meet 4 Meat came into scene.
But let’s talk about food, ehem meat. Chef Jimmy recommended their signature dish: Beef Wellington with foie gras. As expected, this was the highlight of our lunch.
At just $31, the Beef Wellington comes as a 180-gram tenderloin coated in a red wine mushroom duxelle and wrapped in a puff pastry shell. To scale things up, a piece of pan seared foie gras s added into the Wellington as well.
We also tried their Premium Rib-Eye (240gr), grass-fed Black Angus beef from Australia.
Chef Jimmy also recommended their ¨4 – Boned Lamb cutlets¨ ($29), marinated for days with a secret proprietary blend.
To sum things up, their most famous pasta dish made burger: Carbonara pulled pork burger ($10). A 120g shredded pork shoulder marinated with their famous carbonara sauce.
Bonus point: to make their menu even more affordable, they also offer homemade pasta. So, even if you are a vegetarian you have no excuses to not pay a visit to Jimmy and Gerald.
It is hard to pass up a visit to Meet 4 Meat at such unbeatable prices. We will go back for sure!
